Hi! I am the Sossoman Associate Professor and Director of Public History at Western Carolina University where I teach and conduct research on public history, the history of museums, and urban history. I received my PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in American Studies and have published in articles and book chapters in outlets such as the Journal of Museum Education, the Journal of Childhood and Youth, and the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of American History. My first book, History is Bunk: Assembling the Past at Henry Ford’s Greenfield Village (University of Massachusetts Press, 2013) received an Honorable Mention for best book by the National Council on Public History and won the Henry Ford Heritage Association Book Award. My second book, Please Touch: A History of the First Four Children’s Museums in the United States (1899-1965) is forthcoming from the University of Massachusetts Press Public History in Historical Perspective series.
